Ok so it is safe to say I have been neglecting our blog lately. I'll commit to doing a little better job of it. Many thanks to our loyal fans for encouraging me to get off my lazy butt to post something new.
As most of you know we added another boy to our family about 3 weeks ago. Tyler tipped the scales in at 6 lbs 6 ounces. I got the wake up at 2 am Sunday morning and an hour later we were sitting in the hospital with Becca measuring in at 3 cm. Four other ladies had bum rushed the place along with us so things were really busy around there. Around 3:30 I heard the most awful screaming I have ever heard! I thought for sure someone was getting her legs sawed off with a butter knife! Not able to control my curiosity and I went out to investigate. Nothing seemed too out of the ordinary when I found her. The way the nurses rolled their eyes when I looked at them pretty much confirmed my suspicion…..This lady was giving birth to an elephant! Upon returning to our little room I explained to Becca and my mother in law my findings. It was getting close to 4 am before they wheeled this lady past our room. We were a little annoyed as we had showed up before her! Lesson #1 Never make light of the pain you are in, it will put you to the back of the line.
It was just after 5 am before they got us into the room we would deliver in. By now the contractions were really getting strong and it was time to raise some hell about not getting an epidural yet. Lucky for me my mother-in-law has her black belt in such a thing. For good measure the nurse decided to measure Becca again. Her eyes got very big and I knew we were in for it. She said “your at a 10 + 1 STOP PUSHING! She ran out the door leaving us alone wondering what to do next. By now Becca was really in pain and I was really wondering if I was going to have to deliver this kid. By 5:45 the epidural doctor came in and started frantically trying to get it done as fast as possible. Lesson 2: Keep asking for epidural, even if you don’t need it. By the time he was done it really didn’t matter as it was time to push. By the end of the first contraction push Tyler was half way out, by the second he was completely out. It really was amazing….I’ve had bowel movements take longer than what it took for Becca to push him out!
Everything has been great so far with our little guy. We were out of the hospital after staying only 36 hours. Hunter is having a hard time not being at the top of the totem pole anymore, but we are working with him. Tyler is a very good eater, and so far has gained over a pound in a half! He just wants to eat all day, obviously wanting to take after his old man.
I’ll have pictures to post soon, I just wanted to get something up.
